- By which date the advance must be paid?
Advance payment is required at the latest one month before departure, but places may run out before this deadline if other people pay the advance payment, so it is necessary to check the availability of the places of the chosen week. The advance is non-refundable.
- By which date the difference of money must be paid?
The difference must be paid at the latest two weeks before departure. Once paid, this amount is also non-refundable. However, if we find a replacement we can return a part of the amount paid (the amount minus the costs of finding a replacement, eg facebook ads, special discounts granted in search of a replacement)
- Do I have to be a good swimmer to participate in the camp?
The camp is for any fitness level or swimming skills, but the type of beach and the place in the water where you will surf will be determined by them. To learn to wave you do not need to know how to swim because the instructors are with you even where the water does not exceed the waist. However, the surfing progress is directly proportional to the physical, mental and swimming level, and we are working on each of these chapters trying to improve you.
- What flight options do I have for Tenerife if I depart from Romania?
The cheapest flights are those with stopover, around 180-230 euros with decent stops for up to 6 hours. For our recommendations you can consult the web page 3 months before the date of the first camp, or you can contact us at board@supacademy.ro. Ticket prices fluctuate over time, and in order to get the best prices you have to check the weekly offers, on different days of the week.
The fastest flights are the direct ones, from Bucharest or Budapest, and cost around 250-300 euros at Wizz Air. Be sure to follow the company’s special offers for the best prices. Ticket prices fluctuate over time.
- Which of the airports in Tenerife would I better land?
The southern airport is closer to the accommodation than the northern one. We organize the transfer from the airports for the recommended flight routes, but if there are larger groups that land at similar times other than the flights recommended by us, we also organize the transfer.
- It is written that the transfer from the airport is included, will you be waiting for me there?
We organize transfers for flights recommended by us, but for larger groups arriving at similar times we can organize the transfer regardless of the airport (north or south). We will find out after most of the 15 people in the group will have purchased their plane tickets. In exceptional cases, where the landing is at night we find together a solution for transfer. The buses to the accommodation cost from the North Airport about 12 euros and from the South airport about 6 euros. Private transportation, a car for 3 people, costs from the North airport 35 euros, and from the South airport 15 euros.
- How is the room distribution made?
The rooms are for 2, 3 or 4 people. Although the distribution is made freely according to the preferences of the participants, couples have priority, then families, then groups. After that we try to adapt as much as possible and group girls with girls and boys with boys. We encourage you to socialize before leaving, in order to get to know each other better.
- How is the weather on the island at that time?
Tenerife is the island of eternal springtime temperature varying around 25 degrees celsius all year round in the southern part of the island, where we have the camp. In the evening it can fall below 20 degrees, or given the height of the volcano, at high altitudes it can fall below 10 degrees. On the north of the island there are higher chances of rain and clouds, with temperatures averaging a few degrees lower than in the south.
- What temperature does the water have?
The ocean water is around 22 degrees and if the sun is hot, a neoprene suit for surfing is not needed, but given that the course duration is 2 hours and it is possible that the wind will blow. A surf equipment is more likely to leave you with scratches, so we will give you a neoprene suit that we recommend to wear every time. On the north of the island the water may have a degree or two less than in the south.
- What clothes should I take with me?
Given that you are leaving Europe in a period when you need to wear thicker clothes, and that the temperatures on the island may vary depending on the time of day, area and altitude, we recommend that you do not load your luggage with anything other than thin clothes for beach, slippers and a blouse or jacket.
- Do I need to take hold/checked-in luggage?
Considering the climate of the island you only need the hand luggage. The clothes you will be wearing will be thick enough even for the lowest temperature you can find, on the volcano El Teide at 3800m. Also, there is no need to load your hand luggage with beach creams and shower gels larger than 100 ml because you can purchase from whatever you need from there.
- Do we have towels at the accommodation?
Yes, there are towels and you do not need to fill your luggage space with them.
